On April 7 in Toronto, Will Middlebrooks hit three home runs in a power display so impressive that one Blue Jays fan ran on the field and tried to shake his hand.

Since then, Middlebrooks is 2-for-31.

And so, with the Red Sox in the middle of a stretch of 18 games in 19 days, Middlebrooks is on the bench for tonight's series finale against the Indians. So, too, is Jackie Bradley Jr., sitting for a third consecutive game, even though the Sox are facing a right-handed pitcher for the third night in a row. Bradley is expected to be sent to Triple-A Pawtucket once David Ortiz is reinstated from the disabled list, and after Ortiz homered today in Pawtucket, it would appear his return could come as soon as tomorrow night at Fenway Park.

Here's the full lineup against Indians right-hander Zach McAllister (1-1, 2.19 ERA), with the Red Sox seeking their first series sweep:

CF Ellsbury
RF Victorino
2B Pedroia
1B Napoli
LF Nava
DH Gomes
C Saltalamacchia
SS Drew
3B Ciriaco
Jon Lester (2-0, 1.42 ERA)
