"Less than 24 hours after winning a Silver Slugger Award, shortstop Alexei Ramirez sounded more confident about the White Sox's chances in 2011.
"This team has everything it takes, all the tools to win next year," Ramirez said Friday during a conference call. "We have the experience of what happened last year. We had a rough start, we have the experience and these guys on this team know what it takes to win this division."
Ramirez, 29, will play a bigger role in the Sox lineup. He took pride in joining Jose Canseco and Rafael Palmeiro as the only Cuban-born players to win the award as the top offensive player at his position by vote of American League managers and coaches.
Ramirez batted .282 with 18 home runs and a .431 slugging percentage. He might need to improve those numbers if the Sox can't re-sign first baseman Paul Konerko."
