As the World Series ended Sunday night, six Red Sox players became free agents. They will hit the open market Saturday at 12:01 a.m.

The Sox have said they want to retain designated hitter David Ortiz and outfielder Cody Ross.

There is progress being made with Ortiz on a multiyear contract. Ortiz hit .318 with a 1.026 OPS, 23 home runs, and 60 RBIs in 90 games. He turns 37 next month.
