"The veteran center, acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, sprained his right ankle and missed a Feb. 24 game against Toronto. He sprained his left ankle and missed last Sunday's game at Denver.
In his first seven games as a Blazer, Camby - who came into the game as the NBA's No. 2 rebounder and No. 6 shot-blocker - was averaging 3.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 27.6 minutes. Never a prolific scorer but blessed with a decent midrange set shot, Camby was only 10 for 31 from the field and seemed reluctant to put one up.
Then came Tuesday night against Sacramento at the Rose Garden. The 6-11 Camby was a large presence, in both coaches' minds the difference in Portland's 88-81 victory. Camby finished with six points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots in 33 minutes, but it was his performance down the stretch that was luminescent."
