Shawn Marion is out for Thursday’s game against San Antonio because of his injured left calf and probably for Friday’s home game against Cleveland, coach Rick Carlisle said after the Mavericks’ practice in San Antonio Wednesday.

Marion is scheduled to meet with Mavericks’ physician Dr. T.O. Souryal on Friday morning.

“He’s going to be re-evaluated on Friday,” Carlisle said. “He’s made some improvement but he’s not getting to where he needs to get as quickly as we felt he should. So Dr. Souryal is going to meet with him on Friday morning and take a closer look at it and we can kind of re-assess the situation. I’d say he’s out the next two games. I’d say that’s pretty certain. If he all of the sudden feels 100 percent by Friday, that would be great. But at this point, he’s a definite no for (San Antonio) and very doubtful for Friday.”

The concern is that something more than a bruise is involved in Marion’s leg. The 6-7 forward hurt the calf in last Wednesday’s game against the Rockets in the first quarter.

“It’s just not responding,” he said. “It’s still painful right now. I think I did pull something, and I got kicked there after it happened and I played through it.”
