"Lions quarterback Shaun Hill was wearing a baseball cap instead of a helmet during Tuesday's practice and was sporting a splint on his right index finger.
The injury and severity of it were not revealed after the 45-24 loss to the Patriots last Thursday. A league source confirmed late Tuesday that Hill did indeed break his right index finger and might be done for the season. Lions coach Jim Schwartz said he wouldn't address it until after today's practice.
"I'm really not going to comment on anything as far as that," he said. "Tuesday is an extra day for us. With the Bears not practicing today it doesn't make any sense for us to talk about it ourselves. It's not so much holding anything back it's just a competitive thing with Chicago not practicing today and no sense giving them a jump on anything."
Hill was unavailable for comment after practice.
Quarterback Drew Stanton took all the reps with the first-team offense in the portion of practice open to the media."
