"Detroit Lions quarterback Shaun Hill is back at training camp and doing his best to get back to his normal life, but he knows that isn't possible.
In late January, Hill and his father, Ted, were working together on the roof of Shaun's barn in Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., when tragedy struck. Ted Hill fell from the roof - "Just out of arm's reach,'' Shaun said - and died from his injuries.
"I'm doing well, it's good to be back at work and being able to focus on something else. For myself and my family, we went through the grieving process - we're still going through the grieving process the right way,'' Hill said. "If there is such a thing as a healthy grieving process, I think we've done it. It's a continuous thing.''
Growing up, Shaun was the star athlete and Ted was his coach and mentor. Shaun would often call his father during the NFL season - an emptiness he knows he'll feel this year."
