Arian Foster’s expected return to practice Sunday morning was derailed by back pain not the calf muscle strain that has been bothering him. Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Foster’s leg is fine but for the moment there’s no timetable as to when the running back will come off the PUP list and resume working out.

But the Texans did get linebacker Darryl Sharpton back. He has been on PUP with a non-football-injury groin strain.

“He brought some intensity to practice” Kubiak said of the fourth-year linebacker. “That’s who Sharp is. He’s a banger. If he can stay in one piece he can really help this team. He’s a heckuva player. We’ve got our fingers crossed we’re going in the right direction.”
