Sharp says he wasn't bothered by All-Star ballot snub

"It was a snub in every sense of the word. After what Patrick Sharp did in the postseason last year for the Blackhawks, he should have been on the All-Star ballot.

But he wasn't. Sharp won't complain about it to the media — he's as professional as they come — but he deserves serious consideration for one of the remaining 36 spots.

The fans voted in Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith and four Penguins: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury and Kris Letang. The NHL will select the remaining 36 players and unveil them Tuesday.

"It doesn't bother me," Sharp said of not being on the ballot. "It's been like that for a number of years. We have a number of great players in this locker room. You can't really argue with anybody who's on the ballot. .??.??. We have good players going."

Sharp was an unsung hero of the Hawks' Stanley Cup run. He quietly had a great run with 11 goals, 22 points and a plus-10.

This season, Sharp surpassed 20 goals for the fifth consecutive year. As of Wednesday, he had the third-most goals in the league.

"You look at what he's achieved this year," coach Joel Quenneville said. "His numbers are pretty amazing. He's a pretty amazing story. Hopefully, Sharp gets to go. It's well deserved."

Sharp faces stiff competition, but not every team has to necessarily be represented in the All-Star Game, which should help."
