The Dallas Mavericks on Sunday re-called rookie Shane Larkin from the D-League’s Texas Legends.

The Legends home in Frisco enabled Larkin to play one game — scoring nine points and dishing seven assists in 33 minutes Saturday against Rio Grand Valley — sleep in his own bed and return to Mavericks practice Sunday.

Devin Harris’ return has drastically cut into Larkin’s minutes. Larkin has played 10 combined minutes in the last four games, including 4:43 against the Kings in which he missed his only shot and had two defensive lapses.

“He needs work,” Carlisle said, when asked why Larkin was sent to Frisco. “You saw how he played the other night. It didn’t go well. We just need Shane and Ricky [Ledo] and all our young guys to always have an edge and always be as competitive as possible.
