Colin Greening and Ben Scrivens strained their friendship in the Battle of Ontario.

Greening’s last-minute goal on his Cornell University pal allowed the hometown Senators to thwart a Toronto comeback in a 3-2 decision at Scotiabank Place. The Sens controlled a key faceoff and Greening won a loose puck battle with Scrivens the Leaf goalie.

Toronto still has Monday’s game in Philadelphia to try for a 12th win in its first 20 games, which would be its most since 1993-94 when it opened with 10 straight victories and won 13. The Sens urged loyalists not to flip their tickets to invading Leaf fans, but the sellout crowd of 19,499 had the usual blue and white flavour, not to mention a packed house back at the ACC watching on the screens.
