"Pascal Leclaire got introduced to his new teammates on Monday: the Binghamton Senators.
The oft-injured Senators goalie, on the mend from a lower-body injury, was assigned to Binghamton on Monday for a conditioning stint.
He practised there and all reports indicate that he survived, no small feat considering the way his season — indeed, his entire career — has gone.
How many games he'll play is a question mark, because it is all conditional on how he feels from day-to-day.
He'll practise again on Tuesday, and if he comes out of that OK, he could play on Wednesday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
"We're looking to get him a couple of games, two or three games," said Senators coach Cory Clouston.
"Each step we'll see how it goes. It's just a day-by-day situation with him. It just depends on how his injury responds. I'd like to put a specific number on it, but I can't."
Leclaire has now missed 32 games to injury this year: seven at the start of the season after he left an Oct. 14 games against the Carolina Hurricanes, and 25 since bailing after the warm-up for a Dec. 17 game in Colorado.
His injuries, along with injuries suffered by Binghamton goalie Mike Brodeur, have had a domino effect on the organization.
Without a competent NHL-calibre backup because of Brodeur's injuries, Brian Elliott was thrust into the starting role without a safety net, and 19-year-old Robin Lehner was prematurely forced to serve as Elliott's backup before being elevated to the starter's role."
