The Panthers’ long relationship with Jonathan Stewart is in its twilight years, and they look to be ready to bring in a potential successor. However, the timing could be interesting.

Carolina has interest in Stanford multipurpose dynamo Christian McCaffrey, Cecil Lammey of Bleacher Report notes, adding also that the team is intrigued so much it could use its No. 8 overall pick on the former Cardinal superstar. That doesn’t gel with where McCaffrey’s going in mock drafts, or anything close to it, but the prospect certainly has the statistical pedigree to be considered in shouting distance of top running back prospect Leonard Fournette.

Needs exist for the Panthers at tackle and wide receiver on offense, with the team seeing Mike Remmers, Byron Bell and Ted Ginn Jr. among its cadre of unrestricted free agents.
