Selanne skating after minor surgery

"Ducks GM Bob Murray on Tuesday said that unrestricted free-agent winger Teemu Selanne is skating lightly in his native Finland, two weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his ailing left knee.

Selanne, 41, had surgery June 29 in his homeland in order to deal with a tender left knee that he played with for much of last season, when he finished second on the Ducks with 80 points and third with 31 goals.

The surgeon is the same one who did a full reconstruction during the lockout, which paved the way for the successful second act to Selanne's long career.

"His kids are at camp and he's out there skating with them," Murray said. "He feels fine. He said, 'OK, let's talk next week like we always planned.'

"He says he feels fine. He feels good. We'll talk next week."

Because of his decision to have his knee checked, Selanne pushed back his self-imposed July 1 deadline to announce whether he will return to the Ducks for an 18th NHL season."
