Infielder/outfielder Skip Schumaker is getting close to being able to start a rehab assignment. He's done all the baseball things -- hit, thrown, taken ground balls -- but he knows he has to get over one last hurdle.

"I think the issue is the dive," Schumaker said. "Going in headfirst on a pick-off."

Schumaker dislocated his left shoulder making a diving catch on March 21.

"It might be more mental than physical," Schumaker said. "I hoping that's what it is. If that's the case, I'll head out on rehab soon."

Schumaker took batting practice on the field for the first time since injury on Friday.

"Everything was OK with that," he said. "Hopefully, a few more days of that and then we'll re-assess where we're at and go from there."

At the time of the injury, the Reds said Schumaker would miss four to six weeks. Friday was four weeks.
