Too bad it's not more of a race for the Mets. They're getting help back.

Johan Santana, who pitched three scoreless innings in Class A on Sunday and felt fine doing so, is scheduled to throw a bullpen session today and then is expected to pitch Saturday against the Braves. Santana was placed on the disabled list July 21 with a sprained right ankle.

"I'm scheduled to throw my bullpen and I'm pretty sure we'll go from there to see exactly how we're going to approach this," said Santana, who threw 38 pitches (29 strikes) and hit 93 with his velocity Sunday. He said not only is his ankle fine, but he's well-rested.
