"Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss had surgery on his broken left hand, a day after he injured it in the first half of Washington's 33-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Coach Mike Shanahan said Moss will be out five to seven weeks. He had three pins inserted into his hand.
Moss tweeted news of his surgery earlier in the day.
Moss, who entered Sunday's game leading all Redskins wide receivers with 22 catches for 284 yards and two touchdowns, suffered the injury while trying to break his fall on a play. He recorded two catches for 17 yards before he was injured."
