Johan Santana would gladly take the ball Friday night for the Mets, but is content to wait until Sunday.

The Mets lefty said he is "fine" following extra days of rest after spraining his right ankle last Friday against the Cubs. Santana twisted the ankle covering first base and had it stepped on by Reed Johnson.

Santana played catch yesterday at Turner Field during a team workout and expects to throw a bullpen session today.

"I told these guys I would have pitched [tonight], but the doctor told us that they want me to take an extra couple of days and just give it a break," Santana said. "It was sore the day after, but it was manageable."
