"The Sharks placed Antero Niittymaki on waivers Wednesday in their next step of trying to find the frustrated goaltender a new NHL home.
There's a logjam in net throughout the San Jose organization, and general manager Doug Wilson has been canvassing the league looking for a trade partner without success.
Teams have until 9 a.m. Thursday to place a claim on Niittymaki. If that happens, the Sharks would lose the goalie but gain some additional salary-cap flexibility in advance of the Feb. 27 trade deadline. "
