"Reports that have surfaced stating that Steve Spagnuolo will become the Saints' defensive coordinator undoubtedly will rub a fair number of Eagles fans the wrong way, but to them I ask, where was the evidence he was even considering coming back to Philadelphia?
That report weeks ago out of San Diego? Was that enough to get you hyped about the possibility of Spags bringing to Broad and Pattison what he delivered to the Giants earlier in the 2000s? His awful three years in St. Louis notwithstanding, Spagnuolo still figures to be highly regarded as a builder of defense.
The way I saw it, Spags would have a number of job offers as a coordinator because of what he did in the past. That feeling only intensified as I saw coaches' heads rolling in recent weeks (I stick to the prediction I previously wrote about on the Eagles' defensive coordinator position).
When Jeffrey Lurie stood before the media and effectively put Andy Reid on notice for 2012, that should have been enough to douse the Spags-to-Philadelphia talk. "
