Saint Joseph’s guard Shavar Newkirk has officially been cleared to return to non-contact work, Hawks head coach Phil Martelli has informed FanRag Sports. However, the seasoned signal caller has not yet been fully cleared to return to the court at this time.

It is also worth noting that Newkirk previously tore the ACL in his left knee back on December 30 of last year during the Hawks’ matchup against the George Washington Colonials.

Standing at 6-1 while weighing 180 pounds, Newkirk has spent the last three seasons suiting up for the Hawks en route to significantly upping the ante in 2016-17.
