The Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks had themselves an old-fashioned shootout on Sunday afternoon, with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson delivering the game-winning drive in a 41-38 final. That’s not to say Wilson was the only signal caller who had a day, as he and Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson both threw for more than 400 yards, becoming just the 14th duo since 1970 to do so in a single game.

After the contest, Wilson was so impressed by his counterpoint that he anointed him succinctly, saying (per John Boyle):

“Go ahead and give him Rookie of the Year.”

Watson didn’t even open the 2017 year as the Texans’ starting quarterback.
