"A rumor of Bobby Ryan re-signing with the Ducks spread quickly throughout the press table sometime early in the proceedings of the NHL entry draft at Staples Center but it was quickly debunked.
ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun tweeted that Ducks GM Bob Murray and Ryan's agent, Don Meehan, quashed the rumor and Meehan also confirmed that there's no deal in place in an e-mail to the Register.
"No truth to it," Meehan said. "We haven't talked in the last two weeks."
Ryan also replied in a text message that he was unaware of any agreement.
The difference between the sides has been revealed when Murray said he offered the winger a four-year deal worth between $20-25 million while Ryan has said that he isn't asking for a contract equal to the $5.325 million annually that Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry are making as the club's highest-paid forwards."
