Royals' spring battles for rotation and bullpen already coming into focus

"The search by the Royals for further rotation help remains ongoing, but general manager Dayton Moore characterizes another major acquisition as unlikely, and manager Ned Yost is comfortable with his current options.

"We've upgraded," Yost said. "We like what we've done so far. We'll continue to look to upgrade. It's an area we wanted to address this winter, and we've done that."

The Royals are also seeking a situational left-handed reliever as an alternative to inconsistent Tim Collins. Sifting through those possibilities, like the search for a starter, is likely to extend beyond Thursday morning's conclusion to the winter meetings.

"There's a lot of work that gets done here," Moore said. "It's just might not be something that gets finished. A lot of groundwork can be laid that can put you in position to make a deal before spring training or even into spring training.""
