e Royals have reportedly signed 35 year old right-handed reliever Jon Rauch to a minor league contract. The 6'11' Rauch towers over hitters on the mound, but struggled last year with a 7.56 ERA in 16 2/3 innings last year for Miami, although he had terrific peripherals with 15 strikeouts and just 3 walks, and his FIP was 3.47.

In 2012, Rauch made 73 appearances for the Mets, posting a 3.59 ERA with just 12 walks in 57 2/3 innings, although he was just replacement level and experienced elbow issues. Back in 2010, he was Minnesota's closer, collecting 21 saves for the Central Division champs.

Rauch was at one point the #4 rated prospect in all of baseball by Baseball America, but settled into an eleven year career as a reliever. He has a career 3.90 ERA with 7.2 strikeouts and 2.7 walks per nine innings. He has pitched for the White Sox, Expos/Nationals, Diamondbacks, Twins, Blue Jays, Mets, and Marlins.

I believe Rauch would be the tallest Royal in history, besting the likes of 6'10'' Andrew Sisco. So he's got that going for him.
