First baseman Eric Hosmer returned to the cleanup spot in the Royals' batting order for the first two games of the Brewers series.

As a rookie last year, Hosmer settled into the fourth spot in manager Ned Yost's lineup by late July.

Hosmer started the season batting third for 13 games but moved back to the cleanup spot for the next 18 until Yost began playing musical chairs with a slumping offense.

With Hosmer scuffling at .176 after a loss at the White Sox on May 11, Yost moved him to sixth and bumped up Mike Moustakas into the cleanup spot.

"We've had to mix and match trying to find the right order," Hosmer said.
