"Brandon Roy's left knee - which underwent surgery late last season for a meniscus tear - is 100 percent healthy and ready to go.
"There are things that are still going to be there after a surgery," the Blazers' All-Star guard said, "but I feel like I'm good enough to go out there and play at a high level and not worry about nagging injuries here and there."
Roy chose to spend the summer in Portland rather than his native Seattle, so he could be closer to Blazer trainer Jay Jensen and strength/conditioning coach Bobby Medina.
"To be around Jay and Bobby, it's better for me in trying to stay healthy," Roy said. "It was good to stay here - a little more relaxing, and I can focus and get my body where it needed to be.
"I played a lot of basketball. There wasn't a period where I stopped playing this summer. That was big for me. Last summer, I didn't play much at all. My rhythm felt bad. This year, I feel like I'm in a really good rhythm to start the season."
• Conversely, veteran point guard Andre Miller played pickup games in Los Angeles and Sacramento "only a couple of times."
"I mostly just relaxed," said Miller, as is his custom in the offseason."
