"Roy Halladay and Jered Weaver will start the 82nd All-Star Game at Chase Field tonight, managers Bruce Bochy and Ron Washington announced Monday.
Halladay, the ace of the Philadelphia Phillies, will become the fourth pitcher to start the All-Star Game for both leagues.
"Couldn't have a better guy to start the All-Star Game for us," Bochy said.
Halladay has an 11-3 record and a 2.45 ERA this season. The two-time Cy Young winner joined Vida Blue , Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson as an All-Star Game starter for both leagues.
"It's always a great experience coming to play here, and to get a chance to go out and compete against the best players is something you look forward to," Halladay said. "So it's a tremendous honor for me and I'm looking forward to it."
Weaver's 1.86 ERA leads major league starters. He has an 11-4 record and struck out 120 batters in the first half of the season."
