"It started with a report from CBS.com earlier this week that the Dolphins were in contact with Bill Cowher on some level. It continued Friday with an NFL.com report that Dolphins owner Steve Ross was in contact with Cowher's agent.

"Not true,'' Ross said. "I'm not going to reach out to anyone while Tony (Sparano) is the coach. I hope he wins and stays the coach. Neither I nor anyone involved with me has contacted (Cowher), his agent or anyone around him."

Think about this: Why would Ross contact Cowher now? He's not going to hire Cowher for this season. He's not competing against another team trying to hiring him. All he would do by contacting Cowhere at this point is perhaps offend Cowher for talking when he has a coach under contract."
