Left-hander Ross Detwiler will pitch in the World Baseball Classic this spring, the Nationals announced joining rotation mate Gio Gonzalez on the Team USA rotation. Detwiler becomes the third Nationals player who will leave camp for the event; outfielder Roger Bernadina will play for the Netherlands.

Detwiler was discussing his schedule with bench coach Randy Knorr this morning, and so the logistics of Detwiler’s preparation for the regular season still seem to be a work in progress. Detwiler, 26, has a spot in the back of the Nationals’ sewn up after he went 10-8 with a 3.40 ERA last season.
