"The Vikings appear to have an issue with a veteran quarterback on their roster -- and, for once, it has nothing to do with Brett Favre.

While Favre sat at his Mississippi home contemplating retirement (wink, wink) this past weekend, Sage Rosenfels appeared to fall behind rookie Joe Webb on the depth chart as the Vikings conducted their three-day minicamp.

Eyebrows were raised a bit Saturday when Rosenfels unofficially received only six snaps during 11-on-11 drills in two practices. But it was downright startling when he did not take one snap during 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 red-zone segments in Sunday's final hourlong session. Tarvaris Jackson worked with the first team, Webb with the second unit and R.J. Archer took the third-team reps.

That meant a sixth-round pick out of Alabama-Birmingham (Webb) and an undrafted rookie out of William & Mary (Archer) got more work than a 10-year veteran. Rosenfels' role as a spectator made one wonder if he even will be wearing purple when the Vikings report to training camp in late July.

Rosenfels, clearly less than thrilled by the events, declined comment for a second consecutive day. Not surprisingly, Vikings coach Brad Childress did his best to put a positive spin on the situation."
