"Rangers manager Ron Washington knows designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero hasn't gotten hot yet in the playoffs.
Guerrero's RBI total through the first seven postseason games (one) trails even bottom-of-the-order hitters Mitch Moreland (two) and Bengie Molina (three).
But Washington is being patient with Guerrero heading into Game 3 of the ALCS tonight in New York. After all, Guerrero hit .300 with a team-high 115 RBIs in the regular season.
"He's been doing this too long for us to get worried about anything he's doing at the plate," Washington said. "I'm not going to change things around because that would be a sign of panic. He's going to come through."
Guerrero is hitting .214 in the postseason with one extra-base hit. Postseason play has normally been a time when Guerrero has shined. In last year's postseason for the Angels, Guerrero had a homer and seven RBIs and hit .378.
"I can't give myself a hard time about that," said Guerrero, who has one hit in two games against New York. "It happens. Sometimes, I've hit the ball good. Sometimes, I don't hit it good. With the way that they're pitching to me, I have to make adjustments. So far, we're playing good as a team and winning as a team, so that's the most important thing." "
