"Despite making five jarring trades this offseason that reshaped the everyday lineup, the Rockies woke up Monday without accomplishing their primary offseason goal: acquiring a veteran starting pitcher capable of gobbling innings. That search ended with the acquisition of veteran right-hander Jeremy Guthrie from Baltimore in exchange for starter Jason Hammel and reliever Matt Lindstrom.
Guthrie, 32, has pitched at least 200 innings in each of the past three seasons. No Rockies starter reached that mark last year. He immediately becomes the leading candidate to start on opening day for the Rockies, an honor he held three times in Baltimore."
