Rafael Betancourt will rejoin the Rockies on Friday, he said, after pitching a successful live batting practice session Tuesday at Fenway Park.

"I'm ready to go. I feel so much better than I did before I went on the DL," Betancourt said. "Before, when I came to the park, I was thinking about it all the time. Now it's totally different. I'm ready to help this team win and do my job."

Betancourt threw two innings, totalling 37 pitches and showed no issues with his injured right groin. He faced Jordan Pacheco and Tyler Colvin and used all of his pitches.

Betancourt will get the next two days off before being activated Friday night for a series against San Francisco at Coors Field.

Colorado manager Walt Weiss and pitching coach Jim Wright have said Betancourt will return to his closer's role.
