The Rockies have activated top middle infield prospect Josh Rutledge, and the team will start him at shortstop against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. In a corresponding move, Colorado sent first baseman Todd Helton to the 15-day disabled list.

Rutledge left Tulsa's game Thursday night in the fourth inning and then headed to Denver. He'll hit eighth in the lineup Friday.

"This is a dream come true," said Rutledge. "I was hoping I would get called up this summer, but I didn't know. Now that I'm here, it's hard to describe."
