"The Yankees are getting ready for their first full-squad workout of the spring. But first, they welcomed back their tardy second baseman, Robinson Cano.

The Yankees' breakout star mixed up his dates, thinking that physicals were this morning, when they really were yesterday. He didn't realize his mistake until he got a call from Tampa asking "where are you?" Cano was in New York.

"I'm embarrassed," said Cano, who apologized. He underwent his physical this morning, in time to work out with the rest of the team.

- Cano, who enters the season as arguably the best second baseman in baseball, said he will not ask the Yankees for a contract extension before his current deal expires."
