In March, the San Francisco 49ers traded for offensive lineman Jeremy Zuttah. He lasted less than five months with the team.

On Wednesday, the Niners cut Zuttah, Joe Fann of the team's official website announced. The team signed linebacker Sean Porter in a corresponding move.

"That was a tough decision," coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Wednesday. "He's done a lot of good things in this league. We wanted to give him chance to go somewhere else."

The 49ers swapped sixth-round picks with the Baltimore Ravens for the rights to the 31-year-old center, moving down 12 spots for the five-month tryout. Zuttah had been working with the second- and third-team groups in training camp.
