"Rick Nash holds the records for just about every meaningful statistical category in the 10-year history of the Blue Jackets, a fact the Rangers were well-aware of before the 26-year-old played his 544th game for the team Saturday night, passing David Vyborny for first place on Columbus' all-time list.

Despite an impressive defensive performance in which the Rangers held Nash to four shots, he still burned them for a fluke goal to snap a tie in the third period, then tacked on another with 1:12 left to send the Blueshirts to a 3-1 defeat, just their fifth loss in 16 road games.

"We stuffed him the whole night until he scores a goal behind the goal line," John Tortorella said. "I thought everybody contributed. It's frustrating. I have to admit that. We played probably one of our better games - even the games we've won - as we always talk about here, it's how we're playing, and we played our (butt) off. Everybody contributed, and it's a tough way to lose."

The Rangers had Nash pinned in the corner as the clock wound down toward five minutes to go in a 1-1 game, but the four-time All-Star managed to fling the puck toward the crease, where it bounced off the skate of Henrik Lundqvist and into the net.

"It was a lucky play," Nash said. "I thought I had it stolen wide a couple of times, and I just couldn't hang onto the puck. Same thing happened that time and I just thought I would fire it at the net, and good things usually happen when you fire on net. It went off Lundqvist's skate and in the net."

There was nothing lucky about the goal Nash scored to ice the game. Lundqvist was headed to the bench for an extra attacker, but rushed back and got into position when Rostislav Klesla blocked a shot by Brian Boyle and the puck came to Nash, who took off on a breakaway."
