The Pirates put right-hander Jameson Taillon on the 15-day disabled list after their game Monday because of right shoulder fatigue, further thinning a rotation already suffering due to Gerrit Cole’s injury.

Taillon was scheduled to start today. To take his place, the Pirates will promote left-hander Steven Brault from Class AAA Indianapolis. Brault, 24, will make his major league debut.

Taillon, the Pirates’ No. 4 prospect according to Baseball America and the second overall draft pick in 2010, debuted in June after missing two years because of Tommy John and hernia surgeries. He made five starts and posted a 3.86 ERA in 28 innings.
