Kentucky added another five-star basketball recruit to its 2017 class on Friday.

Small forward Jarred Vanderbilt chose the Wildcats over North Carolina, TCU and Oregon, announcing his decision on ESPNU and social media around noon.

"I prayed. I've talked to my family," Vanderbilt said. "Just after evaluating, we came to the conclusion this was the best possible fit for me. ... I just felt like (Kentucky) had a family atmosphere when I went out there."

Vanderbilt took his official visit to Kentucky in late October and the Wildcats steadily became the favorite to secure Vanderbilt in recent weeks.

"Coach (John Calipari), he's a Hall of Fame coach, a great personnel coach and I feel like he does the best with developing his players on and off the court and I feel like it's just a great school, a great opportunity for me to excel," Vanderbilt said.

Calipari has assembled the No. 1 ranked class in the country, according to the 247Sports composite team rankings.
