"The Sixers' search for a scorer could be ending soon, according to reports that say Andre Iguodala could be traded to Golden State for Monta Ellis in the coming weeks.

If such a deal were to materialize, it could be straight-up because Ellis' salary of $11 million for next season is within 25 percent of Iguodala's $13.3 million.

Sixers President Rod Thorn refused to comment Tuesday, saying only: "We talk to teams every day about different things."

But a deal for Ellis could be a good match for both teams.

That's because Golden State could be interested in a taller perimeter player who is focused on defense to pair with point guard Stephen Curry. Iguodala, at 6-feet-7, would fit that bill.

Ellis, who's 6-3, would give the Sixers the scorer they desperately need. He has averaged 19.4 points during his six-year career, including 24.1 points last season.

Despite the strong possibility of a lockout on July 1, it's believed that a trade could happen before the June 23 draft because it would affect the Warriors' strategy. Golden State has the 11th pick.

The Sixers have not said that they are shopping Iguodala since the season ended. But Thorn did admit last winter, after the Sixers started 3-13, that they were in fact looking into trading him."
