Report: T.O. tears ACL, could return in November

"One thing that Terrell Owens prided himself on was staying healthy. Now, he has his second injury in six months.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported Sunday night that Owens suffered an ACL tear in one of his knees which is sure to sideline him for the upcoming season. The report said that Owens suffered the injury either while filming his VH1 show, which will debut for a third season next month, or during a workout. Even after having surgery within the past month and with aggressive rehab, the soonest he could return is November.

Owens led the Bengals in receptions (72), yards (983) and touchdowns (9) last season in what will undoubtedly be his only season in Cincinnati. Owens had 55 receptions for 770 yards and seven touchdowns through the first eight games, but as the Bengals' 10-game losing streak continued, the catches declined and the frustration mounted.

After the Bengals Week 14 loss at Pittsburgh, which was the game before he got injured, Owens took everyone to task including offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski and owner Mike Brown. Owens made $2.67 million last year ($2 million base, $667,000 in reaching two of the six incentives).

Owens' first knee injury came during the first quarter of last season's Dec. 19 game against Cleveland. He tore the meniscus in his left knee and had surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., the following day. He was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 21, which marked the first time in his 15 seasons that had happened."
