While he won't clear waivers until Friday, NBA veteran Corey Brewer has committed to signing a minimum contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.
Even though the Thunder seemed like a natural fit for Brewer given his relationship with Billy Donovan which goes back to the former NBA champion's college days, Oklahoma City's front office considered making a number of different moves before deciding the veteran forward was the right fit for their team.
According to a report from Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Thunder's front office had exploratory discussions with the representatives for Derrick Rose, Tony Allen and a number of others prior to receiving a firm commitment from Brewer following his buyout from the Los Angeles Lakers.
