Taylor Martinez, the undrafted Nebraska quarterback that the Eagles agreed to contract terms with Sunday as a wide receiver or cornerback, has failed his physical, voiding his deal, according to HuskerOnline.com.

The web site, citing Martinez’s father, said Martinez’s foot injury, which sidelined him for most of his senior year, has not sufficiently healed for Martinez to pass his physical in the estimation of the Eagles’ medical staff.

Although Nebraska never revealed the nature of the injury, ESPN reported last fall that Martinez had suffered a plantar plate tear of the second metatarsal phalangeal joint.

Martinez was a quarterback at Nebraska, but the Eagles planned to try him at either wide receiver or cornerback.

Martinez completed 59.8 percent of his passes in his college career for 7,258 yards with 56 touchdowns and 29 interceptions and rushed 585 times for 2,975 yards, a 5.1 average.
