The Oklahoma Board of Regents are close to announcing an expansion plan at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium that will boost the facility’s seating capacity to more than 90,000.

KWTV sports anchor and former OU quarterback Dean Blevins had the scoop about work at the stadium that is planned to commence after the Sooners’ final 2014 against Oklahoma State on Dec. 6. Plans are to complete the project by the Sooners’ 2015 opener against Akron on Sept. 5.

The most noticeable part of the plans would be the completion of a bowl in the facility’s south end zone. Plans are also to include a new press box, more seats, facility upgrades and creation of a new weight room and training facilities.
