"Pitching coach Mike Maddux said he received encouraging reports about Brandon Webb's three shutout innings for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday, even though his fastball velocity was 83-85 mph.

"He's always been a movement guy, and he had good movement," Maddux said. "As long as we've got movement, we can compete. And having some success is going to be huge. I'm not sure what comes first, confidence or success, but having some success can't hurt your confidence."

Webb is scheduled to pitch again for Frisco on Sunday at Corpus Christi."
