Jason La Canfora reports that Steelers OLB Jason Worilds has signed his transition tender worth $9.75 million.

La Canfora adds that Worilds and the Steelers have made progress towards a long-term deal.

Worilds signing his transition tender, it prevents any team from trying to step in sign him away from the Steelers in the coming week.
There appears to be a lot of optimism that they will be able to get a long-term agreement in place in the near future that would reduce his current cap figure.

This could, of course, be an indication that veteran OLB LaMarr Woodley could be on the chopping block in the coming weeks.

It’s doubtful the Steelers would carry Woodley at his current cap figure of $13.6 million with Worilds locked up long-term. Pittsburgh would likely have to designate Woodley as post-June 1 release, which would free up $8 million in cap space.
