The Eagles tried to reacquire running back LeSean McCoy from the Bills in an effort to erase what Philadelphia General Manager Howie Roseman considered a mistake made by former coach Chip Kelly, according to a report from the New York Daily News.

In a feature centered around how Roseman rebuilt the Eagles into a Super Bowl team, Manesh Mehta cites sources who said the Eagles made "off-the-books" offers to get McCoy, who spent his first six season with the Eagles.

From the Daily News:

Roseman found the centerpiece of his team in (Carson) Wentz, but there was one player that he couldn’t add: McCoy.

Kelly’s decision to trade McCoy to Buffalo for (Kiko) Alonso never made sense. Roseman tried to get McCoy back in a deal with Buffalo through back-channel intermediaries, according to sources.
