"The Astros are believed to be placing lefthander starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez on trade waivers this week and there is a growing belief that Rodriguez will be claimed by a team, according to CBSSports.com.

Rodriguez was talked in trade rumors leading up to the July 31 nonwaiver trading deadline, but wound up staying with Houston. The Astros traded outfielders Hunter Pence and Michael Bourn before the deadline.

Rodriguez will be owed $10 million in 2012, $13 million in 2013, and has a $13 million club option or a $2.5 million buyout for 2014. The Astros are believed to be cutting payroll to around $60 million next year."
