"Brian Westbrook knew his Eagles days were numbered as he walked off the field following the team's season-ending 34-14 loss to the Cowboys in an NFC wild-card game.
Westbrook had no carries and caught one pass.
"Of course, that last game of the season, it was kind of the writing on the wall that I wasn't in their plans for any time to go forward," Westbrook said in an interview with Mike Gill of 97.3 ESPN, based in Atlantic City. "When they did not allow me to have any impact on the game, it kind of set the stage for my release."
The Eagles released the two-time Pro Bowler Tuesday after eight seasons and won't have to pay him $7.25 million. Westbrook said the Eagles never offered him a chance to come back under a restructured deal or pay cut, which he might have considered."
